Wayne is a village in DuPage and Kane counties. Located 33 miles west of the Chicago Loop, Wayne is an equestrian oasis in western DuPage County, with homes and barns on large lots. In the late 19th and early 20th century, Wayne was a prominent center of horse breeding and farming research. The community, situated in a small, rural valley, was known for breeding French Percheron horses, a draught horse similar to a Clydesdale. Wayne is proud not only of the unique historic and equestrian heritage and the nature preserves, but also to have been recently recognized as the 7th safest community in Illinois.
