Kirkland is a village in DeKalb County. This small community consists of homes found in subdivisions and rural homes. A post office called Kirkland has been in operation since 1875. Kirkland was established in 1882 and the Town official slogan is "A Nice Place to Call Home" The village was named for William T. Kirk, a local landowner. Located 65 miles Northwest of Chicago.
